Health & Safety Officer
The Health & Safety Officer will assist in maintaining workplace safety standards through inspections, risk assessments, compliance monitoring, incident reporting, and staff safety awareness initiatives across multiple company sites in Malta.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Health & Safety Officer to support the implementation and maintenance of health and safety standards across multiple company sites in Malta. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, promoting a strong safety culture, and assisting with risk management initiatives throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct routine health and safety inspections across company premises and operational sites.
• Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures.
• Monitor adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and Maltese occupational health and safety legislation.
• Collaborate with management, employees, contractors, and external health and safety consultants to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, including inspection reports, incident records, corrective action logs, and compliance checklists.
• Support the delivery of toolbox talks, employee awareness programmes, and safety training sessions.
• Monitor the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety signage, emergency procedures, and other site safety controls.
• Identify workplace hazards and recommend effective corrective and preventive measures.
• Assist with incident investigations and follow-up actions where required.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of workplace health and safety standards.
Requirements
• Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within hospitality, facilities management, construction, maintenance, or property operations.
• Sound knowledge of Maltese Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
• Relevant Health & Safety qualification or certified safety training.
• OHSA Competent Person registration, or eligibility to obtain registration, will be considered an advantage.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and report-writing skills.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Maltese will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently and across multiple locations.
• Valid driving licence will be considered an advantage.
• Must be eligible to work in Malta.
• Applicant must be already located in Malta
